The site is located in La Sabana area, west of San José, Costa Rica. It is a corner lot, one block away from Avenida de las Américas, an area primarily commercial, hotel, and residential in nature. As such, the Nortesa project aligns with the area’s character. The project consists of an aparthotel. At street level, it contributes to the urban fabric by incorporating a bistro that serves both the general public and acts as a reception area for the hotel.
The floor-to-floor height is 4.32 meters (14’-2”), allowing for windows of such height that they create a sense of spaciousness within the interior, while also adding rhythm and elegance to the façade. The construction method is a hybrid of steel and concrete structures. The façade is composed of fiber cement panels. The corner is accentuated with a vertical garden and a series of balconies.
